ControlXFade

PostWed Oct 30, 2013 9:31 pm

Hi sharc and all,
is it really true that greenhorns have to upload a patch to become a full BCmodular member?
Ok then, if it needs to..
Jokes aside. I think I've got something for you.
You may or you may not have read petal's moaning about the non-working "smooth transitions" in my AtzeV2 synth.
The bad thing: he is totally right.
The good: I think I've found a solution - the controlXfade module.
The more good: it works perfectly with BCM modules.
In the attached patch, you can perform parameter xFades for 5 controls, which is done by the controlXfade module.
Little module description:
-5 async outputs + 1 sync output ->connect BC modules here
-Fade time can be defined on top (currently 10sec)
-you have 2x8 "Variation" knobs, where you can store&recall parameter values
-fading is performed between the two "Variation columns": select a left knob, select a right knob..
just check it out, it's easy.
the module is just a preliminary version. The full version should have more controls/outputs (also sync), text fields for better overview, anything else..?
You can download the module here.
Please let me know what you think.

hi! here is a more elaborated patch (but still quite basic).
Image
what is it all about?
Fading between different parameter settings, in this case just eight:
PitchModulation LFOfrq, PM amount, LFOwave, InsertFx 1-2 crossfade, Filter cf, Q, LP mix gain, HP mix gain.
How does it work?
By pressing a button of one of the Variation Selector modules (top mid and right), a set of parameter arrays is selected. Parameter values can be set by the BCM-32 module: First row for the left selector, second row for the right selector. The third row is just for monitoring the crossfade (don't change values here please). Last row is unused.
For parameter crossfading, alternately press one of the left and one of the right Selector buttons.
BCModular modules come handy here because of 1. direct access to parameters 2. CLM modules for better structure and oversight 3. BCM modules for controlling. Thanks sharc!
Audio example here.

I like the look of this. Nice to see you're putting the CLMs to good use :)

Thanks again
